What do you do when:
- You’re the property manager of a bar and restaurant chain
- One of the store managers opens the location in Plymouth Meeting, PA on a Friday morning before a busy weekend
- And finds a tsunami of awful smelling sewage greeting him at the door?
You call PuroClean Emergency Recovery Services, of course!
As the story unfolded, somehow overnight the soil line had clogged.
This caused dangerous (and smelly!) Category 3 Black Water to back up into the bar, the kitchen, the prep room, the men’s room, and the restaurant area, soaking the carpet and creating an unsafe environment for both customers and staff.
We responded in less than an hour with our expert crews and equipment.
After shutting off the water supply to the building, we began assessing the extent of the damage.
First, we called in a local plumber to clear the soil line.
Then we began the process of containing and then mitigating the damage: cleaning, drying, sanitizing, and controlling the odor in all the affected areas, while monitoring the air quality throughout the building.
The primary concern for the property manager was the potential “down-time” and loss of income because the store might have to close during the sewage cleanup.
Because our restoration techniques are so effective, the damage was contained to a few areas, with negative air applied to vent the stench outside.
As a result, most of the restaurant and the bar remained open while the mitigation continued in the background.
Within 3 days, the rest of the restaurant was returned to full use.
